Evil Spirits Try to “Out” Jesus

Mark 3:11-12 – “Whenever the evil spirits saw Jesus, they fell down before him and cried out, ‘You are the Son of God.’  But he gave them strict orders not to tell who he was.”

Intriguing!  How did the evil spirits come to know Jesus as the Son of God? In the Old Testament Jesus is called “the Angel of the Lord” (meaning, Messenger of God). I should study this, but I don’t think Jesus was called the Son of God much in the Old Testament.  He was called Almighty Father!  So, did the evil spirits notice the absense of Jesus from heaven’s throne room?  Did they somehow hear the rumors about his birth and thereby come up with the phrase Son of God?  Had they figured out the truth which all the Nativity events were meant to conceal? Jesus publicly claimed to be the Son of God, but did he intend that there would be no others to substantiate his claim until his Passion? Is that why Jesus shushed the spirits? Intriguing!

Maybe when he was anounced as the Christ Child, the evil spirits new it was true because the spirit of the announcement was so contrary to their’s.  Just a thought.  Keep checking.   You  know how sometimes we can tell when someone is lying.  Maybe evil spirits can tell when there is absolute truth.
